How To Overcome Procrastination

If you have chosen to read this particular blog…it may be because you find yourself putting stuff off, not wanting to do something or get something done.   Avoidance, resistance, procrastination…it’s all the same stuff.  And, what you resist, persists.  And it’s true.  Avoidance, resistance, procrastination…as much as you might want it to, it doesn’t make something go away, it just postpones the inevitable. 

Look, try this thought on.  What if you could learn how to tackle those “not so pleasant things head on.”  What if the things you resist could actually get handled?  In fact, what if in the process of getting it handled, it actually turned out pretty awesome?  What would that be like?

Let’s try this… take a minute and just do this…

Grab a pen and paper, jot down a couple of things you have been avoiding, and hoping they will just go away or fix itself.  Leave some space between each.

Got your list?  Now, read each one on your list and ask yourself, what if this could turn out to be the most incredible outcome?  Now ask yourself… and if so, what would that be?  Put the answer in the space below each item on the list.

I ask you now, would those outcomes be something you would want?  Imagine what it would be like to, 1) not avoid and worry about stuff, and 2) have each thing you would want to avoid, actually turn out to have an incredible outcome.
